Hukilau was an absolute delight! Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, we were quickly seated. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. Since it was our first visit, they offered excellent recommendations that made our dining experience even better. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared with complex flavors that truly stood out. Every bite was memorable. And the drinks? Absolutely phenomenal! What makes Pono even more special is the story behind it. The owner is a military veteran, and the restaurant is family-run, which is reflected in the genuine hospitality and care you feel throughout your visit. This place is truly a gem in Florence. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in—you won’t be disappointed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is really more of a 4.5 for me. I LOVE the decor and vibe of the place. Staff is great and food came out relatively fast. The chef (or owner?) even came out and checked on us at the end. I had the teriyaki chicken, hubby had tacos, and son had sushi. We all really liked our food, though the Hawaiian mac salad was not good. They were busy and a line formed after we arrived (Memorial Day weekend) but service was ok. Our drinks weren't refilled during our time there because the waitress never checked on us. They also do carry out so the chefs are working hard. We spent $65 before tip for 3 meals and 2 sodas. I would probably eat here again.
So good!! I had the fish taco 🌮 and it was delicious, flavorful and satisfying with great presentation. One taco was a while meal! My boyfriend had a cheeseburger that was massive, delicious and full of flavor. The French fries with the burger were so good I ate half his French fries. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. Even though they were short staffed i didn't notice because our waitress was working so hard! I wish I could remmeber her name but she was wonderful. I would highly recommend this spot to everyone and we will absolutely be returning!
